Education & Prevention

Education and Prevention services are provided through PICADA and include a variety of community-based education and prevention efforts. Two classroom style learning programs both appropriate for those encountering their first legal problem associated with underage drinking.

Education services include current and research-based information on the medical, physical, social and psychological effects of drug and alcohol use. Research-based education is also on integral part of our AODA counseling process.

Alcohol/Drug Assessment

An assessment is the first step in the treatment process. It is provided in a comprehensive and respectful manner to understand the impact AODA use has on a person's life by looking at each person's needs, strengths, and concerns.  A thorough assessment leads to the most appropriate treatment recommendation possible.

Assessment options include:

• Comprehensive AODA assessment services for adults.
• State required WAID assessments for OWI (except Dane County)
• Combined domestic violence/AODA and mental health/AODA assessments

Outpatient AODA Treatment

Outpatient AODA treatment is provided through group, individual, family or couples therapy sessions. All therapy is provided by Certified Addictions Counselors. Service recommendations are based on client need and goals and may include one or a combination of available therapy services.

Dual Diagnosis: Mental Health/AODA

This 10 week group is for men and women with an on going mental health issue who are trying to remain sober and drug free. Each group will address topics designed to help manage mental health symptoms and prevent relapse. Participants may be required to be actively involved in individual therapy.
